Pro Clean

Firearm Cleaning Services

FRED’S FIREARM SERVICE, LLC now offers our longtime Maryland renowned “PRO-CLEAN” service nationwide. For many years, this service has been trusted by both local and visiting sports shooters in the Chesapeake Bay area, including hunters, clay shooters, target shooters, and recreational plinkers. No matter the sport, all firearms eventually accumulate dirt, grit, and grime in hard-to-reach places, leading to potential malfunctions.

Why Firearm Cleaning is Essential

Most firearm malfunctions are caused by hardened carbon, hidden dirt, or even insects. Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to ensure your firearm functions reliably.

Many of our customers—including commercial guides—bring their firearms to us after a season of use for a complete “Pro-Clean.” This service prepares their firearms for safe and reliable use the next season. We also help customers who have neglected firearms, often covered in surface rust, by providing a thorough evaluation and restoration. In most cases, our standard “Pro-Clean” service fee covers the entire restoration.

Our Comprehensive Cleaning Process

Our “Pro-Clean” service includes complete armorer services for all types of firearms, including black powder variations, handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Depending on condition, and your desires, we can also provide metal and wood refinishing as necessary as and additional service to our Pro-Clean service below. In most cases, the PRO-CLEAN service will correct many appearance and functional issues caused by dirt and surface rust. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Complete Disassembly: Every part of the firearm—every pin, part, and spring—will be carefully disassembled as necessary. This is the only way to access and clean the hidden dirt and grime properly.
  2. Inspection: Each part is thoroughly inspected for damage or wear. If a part needs replacement, we have extensive resources for sourcing parts. Additionally, our on-site machine shop and welding facilities may allow us to fabricate new parts if necessary.
  3. Cleaning: After disassembly and inspection, the parts are thoroughly cleaned using a commercial cleaner. Mechanical cleaning methods, such as wire brushing, are applied as needed. This process enhances the firearm without damaging its original finish. In cases of excessive rust, dried grease, grime etc. a necessary KERO-SOAK service will be provided for an additional $25.00 to facilitate the complete process.
  4. Soaking Treatment: The parts are treated with a U.S. Mil Spec grade -60° F to + 160° F Lubricant, enhancing performance and protecting against corrosion. After this soaking, the parts are blown down, and the firearm is re-assembled and test fired.
  5. Final Cleaning: A final basic cleaning is performed after test firing, ensuring the firearm is ready for use.

Additional Services

Ozone Treatment: For an additional $25, we offer a special ozone treatment for firearms exposed to smoke, mildew, or odor damage.
